The World's Freshwater Reserves

Here is UNESCO's 2006 map of the world's freshwater reserves and its most complex hydrogeological regions.

In 2006, UNESCO (the United Nations agency for education, science and culture, which also maintains the World Heritage List) published a map of the world's freshwater reserves, including groundwater and glaciers.

Studying these reserves is crucial not only for meeting humanity's current water needs, but also for building water management strategies that account for a changing climate.

According to many analysts, including the forecasts of Svetlana Dragan, water will become a major factor in the global economy in the coming years.
